In general, I agree with Vir here.

But to concede a point, I do agree with you that he does fail to acknowledge the problems that exist with current legislation and the judicial system. Now, I don’t know exactly where you stand, but the original intent of the various laws on divorce, child support, alimony, and etc. do exist for legitimate reasons.

Historically, women have taken more risk in marriage than men do. Historically, men were the breadwinners while women were “along for the ride”. Should a man be able to divorce a woman at whim and leave her out on the streets to cope? That’s why these laws exist and are needed. But even more so, men should be encouraged to stay in a marriage, especially if there are children involved. Marriage isn’t extended dating.

Now, the problem with modern society is that the original intent is being skewed by family courts, and the legislatures are taking an activist tone in some cases in modifying the laws to make it essentially punitive for the man in almost every case, regardless of actual fault. I’m not interested in going into a detailed analysis here (I think the MRA blogs have done an excellent job so far, so it would be redundant).

With that said, I would say that you are, unfortunately, manifesting yourself on this blog as the stereotypical MRA in the way that you see yourself as nothing but a victim and have this resentment towards people who, despite what troubles may exist, want to soldier on and make the best out of the situation. In other words, an analog to the stereotypical shrill feminist hag.

Now I am not commenting on you in particular, because I don’t know you, but I for one am getting tired of us married men who are working on families – you know, those of us who are perpetuating future generations – as “loser betas” for being successful and going against the grain. The post isn’t communicating well to you; the point was that these laws are just only if we have a social order that favors families. This means one that does not tolerate divorce as an easy outlet, and marriage as extended dating. MRAs fail not because they whine, but because their goals are illusory; they don’t need feminism for men, they need a return to sacred and exclusive roles for men. You don’t find this by altering laws to make marriage less serious and divorce easier.

Even I acknowledge there are no simple solutions. Even I acknowledge that most MRA’s online are nothing but arm chair losers who use the MRA message to explain their sexless nights.
